The BHPS

• The BHPS began in September 1991, annually repeated
• Carried out by the Institute for Social and Economic Research, University of Essex
• Currently fourteen waves in public domain, fifteenth being cleaned, fieldwork for sixteenth begins Sept 1 2006
• Initial sample of approximately 5,500 households, 10,000 respondents
