episno is incremented every time a shift between jobs or employment statuses is either explicitly reported by the respondent, or appears to have occured due to a change in circumstances between waves. If we want to collapse consecutive spells in the same status, e.g., to treat an unbroken series of jobs as a single employed spell, we can use /break=pid,empstat/presorted instead.
