2.3 Aggregating from individual to household level

We often want to generate household level summaries of individual level information. AGGregate is the command to use.

The variable wFIMN is total individual income in the last month, and is stored in wINDRESP. We can use this to calculate total household income by summing across individuals within households.

NB: This is a artificial example constructed for the purposes of the exercise. There are problems with missing individuals - proxy respondents and non-respondents - and missing income values. If we really wanted to analyse household income we would go about it in a much more painstaking way, and indeed we have used wFIHHMN, the painstakingly created household income variable, above.
