{"id":129,"date":"2011-11-09T16:24:40","date_gmt":"2011-11-09T16:24:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/teaching.sociology.ul.ie\/bhalpin\/wordpress\/?p=129"},"modified":"2014-04-19T17:42:24","modified_gmt":"2014-04-19T17:42:24","slug":"new-sequence-analysis-add-ons-sadi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teaching.sociology.ul.ie\/bhalpin\/wordpress\/?p=129","title":{"rendered":"New sequence analysis add-ons: sadi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have updated my Stata add-ons for sequence analysis (including Optimal Matching), and have now released it as a\u00a0 package that you can install with the following commands:<\/p>\n<pre> net from http:\/\/teaching.sociology.ul.ie\/sadi<\/pre>\n<pre> net install sadi<\/pre>\n<p><!--more-->Note that the software requires the moremata package (so &#8220;ssc install moremata&#8221; if you don&#8217;t already have that\u00a0 &#8212; you may have to re-start Stata for that to take full effect).<\/p>\n<p>The software uses plugins, which mean it is fast, but will only work on 32 and 64-bit Windows, and 32-bit Linux. It now avoids estimating distances for duplicate sequences, but does create the full N*N matrix. This makes a big difference where duplicates are common.<\/p>\n<p>In this release, Hamming, OM and my variant-OM distances are provided, along with some utilities. Note that the variant OM distance is not guaranteed to be metric.
