Interview and survey procedures

• Interviewing is carried out by NOP, a survey agency
• Interviewers are skilled and specially trained, most work on the BHPS year after year
• Much effort spent on tracking individuals from wave to wave
• ``Refusal conversion'' a priority
• As a last resort, interviews by proxy or by telephone
• From wave 9, Computer Aided Personal Interviews (CAPI)
